What is "Half the Man?" It's a community of men who are fighting the battle against obesity - and winning!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor, I don't play one on TV, and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. I am not selling anything, promising anything, or handing out  any medical or weight loss advice.

02-08-12: What I am doing, is sharing my story, and providing a place for us to meet, to talk and to share our journeys in the hopes of creating a better, happier, healthier America... one man at a time.

A long time ago a wise friend told me, "If you want to change some things in your life, you have to change some things in your life."

When I was finally ready to take his advice, I took the first steps on my road to a healthier me.

As of this writing I am 36 weeks into my journey; I've let go of 124 pounds and well over 40 inches overall...to say I am excited about my progress and the physical, mental, emotional and professional changes I am experiencing would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong, I know I have a long way to go to get to my goal of...whatever the right number turns out to be; and I know I always do better as part of a team, an army of men all moving towards a similar goal.

This site is allowing me to share my journey - as it happens - with you and with anyone you want to send here; to provide a place where you can share your journey (NOT sell your magic elixir or special weight-reducing ointment, thank you very much) and we can support each other as we let go of the half of us we no longer need.

By this time I figure you understand that the "half" idea is an analogy; you don't have to need or want to lose 50% of your body weight to participate; heck some men's lives would change significantly if they could just let go of twenty or thirty pounds.

For me, "half" started out as a literal fact (I weighed 412 pounds and had a desire to get my body weight down to 200 pounds) so if I reached that goal I would literally be half the man I was when I started.  I have since learned some things about what is and isn't possible AND what is and isn't desirable, and so that final number has become more of an idea than a concrete number. I've learned it's not about "the number" at all...but we'll get into that later..

So, if you're still interested; look around, read some stuff, register (or not - up to you) and when you're ready, join us on the road to Centurion: the road to Living More...by Becoming Less.
